Miss Tourism Busoga Queens Visit The Blind Community In Lubu, Mayuge District

Yesterday, our Miss Tourism Busoga Queens, led by the Minister of Busoga Tourism & Heritage, Owek Hellen Namutamba, extended their care and support to our blind and deaf friends in Lubu Village, Bunha Chiefdom, Mayuge District.

In collaboration with TIKA Uganda and the Turkish Embassy, we were pleased to bring joy and happiness to 66 blind and deaf people in Lubu village by giving them Eid gifts, which included Iftar packages from TIKA Uganda (which had Rice, Soap, Sanitary pads, maize flour, cooking oil, etc.), mattresses from Gracious Concerned Citizens in Kamuli, and cash from Rt Hon Rebecca Kadaga.

Before giving out gifts, the queens, Busoga artists, comedians, and the minister herself got involved in several community activities, including general cleaning of the community such as sweeping blinds homes’ compounds and houses. Personal hygiene activities such as cutting nails short, washing feet, combing hair, and washing clothes were also undertaken.

Later in the day, Busoga artists and comedians entertained the crowd by performing their songs live. Among the artists who performed were Cool Demus, Smart Dee Engoma, Menton Rass, Shaelaka (Kalata), Skypa Ben, Tinah Baibe, Shabra Kiss, Tripple Virus, Leopard and Swengere.

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to making this outreach a success! Your kindness has made a meaningful difference in the lives of the blind brothers and sisters. Special appreciation to the 1st Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Affairs, Rt Hon Rebecca Kadaga, the Minister of Busoga Tourism & Heritage, Owek Hellen Namutamba, the Turkish Embassy, and TIKA Uganda for their solid support and generosity.

Let’s continue to show love and positivity to Persons With Disabilities in Busoga Kingdom and the world at large. Together, we can create a brighter and more inclusive world for all.
